Les Plaisirs - Münchner Kreis für Historische Tänze
in English

The History
It was as early as 1972 that people from in and around Munich started a group that was later on called the "Münchner Kreis für Historische Tänze". But that is a long story...
Anyway, those people began even then to reconstruct and perform early dances using original sources. In 1976 Lenchen Busch took over leadership of the "Münchner Kreis für Historische Tänze". -
The Group
As of spring 2002 the group has been led by Karin Feneberg, Stefan Haberl and Johannes Feneberg and meanwhile calls itself "Les Plaisirs - Münchner Kreis für Historische Tänze". We are interested amateurs and meet once a week to dance.
-
The Dances
We reconstruct, rehearse and perform dances from the 15th through 19th Centuries using original sources. During the last few years, we have been increasingly focusing on baroque dances.

The Name
The meaning of "Les Plaisirs" need not be explained to the educated reader. Let me add that one of Charpentier's operas "Les Plaisirs de Versailles" has something to do with it, which contributed its title to our Baroque Programme. Since we are focusing on the Baroque, it seemed a good idea to let the name also reflect this. And it reminds us in all our activities and performances not to leave the fun out of it.
